These programs encompass beginners and social players as well as advanced tennis players competing in local and international ranking tournaments and living the dream of becoming a professional tennis player.
At the heart of CWTC is the Full Time Training Program which is aimed at developing CWTC’s elite players into tennis professionals. This program offers affordable access to full time tennis training at a very high level.
To date CWTC has coached 16 S.A. National Champs and has several players who are ranked in the top 200 juniors in the world. Kevin Anderson, an ex-CWTC student of 3 and a half years is fast making his mark on the ATP Tour. Kevin qualified for the Australian Open main draw in 2008 and 2010 and has achieved a career high singles ranking of 96 on ATP rankings.
Charles Wheeler was a top international player in his own right and as a junior was ranked no. 1 in South Africa in both the under 16 & under 18 age divisions. He competed in the U.S. Open and Wimbledon and boasts victories over several of the games top players. Charles has also served as Junior Davis Cup coach for South Africa.
CWTC operates from two premier venues in the Gauteng region namely the Killarney Country Club and the German Country Club. CWTC also operates from several local schools. The facilities at the disposal of CWTC include 20 tennis courts (including 2 clay courts), an astro turf field for fitness training, fully equipped gym, swimming pool, two classrooms, a restaurant and sports shop.
The coaching staff at CWTC are of the highest possible standard and most of them have achieved success as players and coaches both locally and internationally.
CWTC has international links with Global Team Tennis (GTT) Academy in Spain, the home of ATP pro, Carlos Moya and world renown ATP Coach, Jofre Porta. This relationship provides a European base for CWTC players to train and compete in European clay court tournaments.
High Performance Tennis (HPT) is also a CWTC affiliate tennis academy that operates from Pennsylvania, USA. HTP was founded on the shared vision of Head Coach Taj Colantoni and Charles Wheeler. Through this relationship CWTC players have access to a North American base from which they can train and compete in the North American tournament circuit.
